SHAKING THE TREE (by José Gefaell)
“As I will shortly have to confront humanity with the heaviest demand
ever made of it, it seems to me essential to say who I am” (*). With
this sentence Nietzsche begins his last and most controversial book, and
thus it seems good to me to present myself to you today.
We welcome the Canadian Gefaell (the Randall family) to our mailing list.
Yes, I speak with you, skeptic Gefaells
that are lounging from your sofas! I, the Spirit of Villaviciosa (**),
still am here, so new and so magnificent as any of your capricious
sorrows, which are also mine. You can now look at me, you can read me,
you can even mock or marvel at my words. They will be no more nor less
than yours.
Laborious, wealthy, cynical and clever fill the
world. “Useful” people that from his arrogant posts do not want to hear
anything about changes, about new projects. “Sensible” men that bring
the “no” inside their bowels, always ready to unsheathe it against any
exigent idea. Happy them and that life be prosperous and thriving! The Gefaells
have chosen a dangerously daring life and all what they want is hoist
the sails. And you laugh heartily at those who try to turn you into
quiet people, gentrified. Because you well know that all work disappears
for who are comfortable.
Throw away your conceited clothes, stripping off
their solitude, and offer yourself full of freedom to the world.
Demolish the earth with your words, galloping after the twilight of your
crying, filling the air with the smell of fire of your many and curious
tales.
I announce it: you will be one of the greatest works
of the universe. Look. Remain vigilant. Do not sleep. Come on, wake up!
Don’t you listen to the glory of your time? It's coming, and this
Spirit that encourages you will grow and grow up to the infinity.
Do not chase the spectacle. Just learn to
contemplate in the solitude of your heart, for is about yours of what I
speak. Again I say: Look at you, isn’t it wonderful your greatness?!
Remember that I told you: "You will be great."
Come to the family gathering those of you who love
the risk and you will not forget it. Travel from wherever you refine the
gold of your lives. Offer it to the rest and it will produce an
infinite profitability. I repeat, do not sleep! Let that nap to those
prudent that do not know love. Find the rest will be find yourselves.
But if your reverence for this Spirit collapses, beware that you do not
crush a statue!
Yes, I have it resolved: together we will dazzle the
man, will show our universe; we will give life to this time and will
create our world. And we will be superb because will be new. We will
annihilate useless and moldy forms, useless because they are not from
here, moldy because they have already died. We, who are indeed from now
–I promise–, will write today and tomorrow, whenever new stories, and
will leave you stunned with the glory of your own hour.
Sooner or later you will know the greatness of which
I speak, that is of all. It cannot be the other way, because my fate
and yours is infinitely supreme. So it must be, as long as you and I so
want. This has been disposed therein.
Vote (the poll for the location of the next "Gefaelada")
Present results:
Rome: 16
Jerusalem: 27
Jerusalem: 27
Vienna: 62
Lviv: 29
Geneve: 6
Barcelona: 15
Seville: 13
Santiago: 14
Vigo: 76
After some days surpassed by Vienna, now Vigo
is winning again. Near 50 of you have voted. The other 60 of you that
have not voted, don't be shy. Do not miss this democratic exercise...
although at the end we will do what our Counsel of Elders will decide
(just kidding).
(*) “Ecce Homo. How ones become what one is”. Nietzsche, 1888.

Villaviciosa is where we did the last family gathering. It is a small
village near Madrid where relatives of some of us have a wonderful big
family house, full of legends and fairies. Maria Luisa Gefaell, a famous writer in Spain at that time, wrote a book called “The Fairies of Villaviciosa de Odón” that we all love.

News from the Gefaell family in Israel
With the permission of Gideon Eiges, her loving husband for 56 years, we regret to inform that Miriam Eiges (nee Gefaell) passed away this last 5th of january, after a long illness. May her soul rest in the peace of God.
On the side of the good news we congratulate Gil Eiges, youngest son of Gideon and Miriam, for his nomination as Vice President of the very important digital nets company AMDOCS. A pity that Miriam couldn't see the nomination in her life, but for sure she will be smiling in Heaven.
